HOW THE C2C FUND WORKS?
There’s a buzz around drinking coffee and doing good, looking after the people and places behind it. Since 2005, social initiative has always been in Mozzo's DNA, and in 2015 we set up the C2C Fund™ to underpin our entire business, ensuring accountable, social, and environmental impact is delivered to coffee-growing communities. Built into our business model, the Fund grows with every coffee sale, turning everyday coffee purchases into long-term investments in coffee-growing communities and their families. Your coffee costs no more, it simply goes further.
HOW IT WORKS
We contribute into the Fund with every bean of Mozzo coffee you buy. These funds accumulate and are then spent with coffee-farming communities.
To keep us focused, and ensuring we help deliver deep impact, we work with grass-roots projects centered around one or more of the 3 pillars of Education, Equity and Environment.
EQUITY: Giving farmers greater control over their conditions and resources.
EDUCATION: Empowering marginalized groups and improving their access to opportunities.
ENVIRONMENT: Minimising environmental harm to the natural habitat and coffee ecosystem.
HOW EVERY COFFEE PURCHASE CONTRIBUTES
The C2C Fund™ is funded through every Mozzo product sold, both online and through our trade partners. Every cup, bag and pod contributes directly to the Fund, helping support the voices, choices and livelihoods of coffee-growing communities at no extra cost to you.
With every Mozzo coffee sold, a contribution is automatically made to the C2C Fund™
- 1¢ per coffee capsule
- 1¢ per coffee bag
- 5¢ per 250g bag
- 10¢ per 500g bag
- 10¢ per kg of roast & ground coffee purchased by trade partners
That contribution builds up and gets invested back into the community in the best interests of our farmers and their families.
INVESTING IN COFFEE COMMUNITIES
We track and publish the Fund’s growth every month. Working closely with small farm coffee cooperatives to identify partner community projects, asking them where and how the Fund will have the most impact, from their perspective. Rather than short-term fixes, we focus on sustainable, long-term solutions. Once a project is approved, we send the funds to registered nonprofit partners who manage the release of funds on the ground.
TOGETHER WE HAVE SUSTAINABLE IMPACT
Since its creation in 2015, the C2C Fund™ has supported a range of community-led projects in coffee-growing regions including the Democratic Republic of Congo and Honduras.
Key projects include:
- Supported Muungano Cooperative, DRC, by building an office space and cupping lab, constructing drying tables and washing stations, as well as helping with staff salaries.
- Built the first maternity & pediatric clinic on Idjwi Island, DRC in partnership with Rebuild Women’s Hope Cooperative
- Improved 4 schools in Honduras with new classrooms, roof repairs and safe play areas for children.
- Most recently, funded the critical expansion of the maternity & pediatric clinic on Idjwi Island, building an intensive care unit and operating theater.
